Croatia Calling
Croatia is a captivating destination that seamlessly blends history, natural beauty, and Mediterranean charm. From the ancient walled city of Dubrovnik and the Roman ruins of Split to the breathtaking waterfalls of Plitvice Lakes and the sun-drenched beaches of Hvar, the country offers a diverse array of experiences for every traveler. Its more than 1,000 islands and scenic Adriatic coastline are perfect for sailing, while inland regions boast lush national parks and rustic villages steeped in tradition. Whether you're exploring medieval towns, indulging in delicious seafood, or enjoying the vibrant café culture of Zagreb, Croatia invites you to immerse yourself in a land where old-world allure meets contemporary spirit.

Touch down at Zagreb International Airport, where a warm welcome awaits you. A private vehicle will be ready to transfer you comfortably to your centrally located hotel. The official check-in time is 3:00 PM—so if you arrive earlier, you may store your luggage at the hotel and begin your discovery of Zagreb at your leisure.
Once settled in, enjoy your first impressions of Croatia’s vibrant capital. Stroll through the cobbled streets of the Upper Town (Gornji Grad), admire Austro-Hungarian architecture, or take a relaxing walk through Zrinjevac Park. Treat yourself to a coffee at one of the city’s famed sidewalk cafés or perhaps indulge in a sweet local pastry at a traditional patisserie.
For culture enthusiasts, consider visiting the quirky Museum of Broken Relationships or the historic Zagreb Cathedral. As evening falls, the city comes alive with energy—explore the buzzing Tkalčićeva Street, known for its lively atmosphere, charming restaurants, and local bars.
Whether you prefer a quiet evening or want to soak up the city’s nightlife, Zagreb offers something for every traveler. Rest well tonight—your Croatian journey has just begun.
Overnight at Zagreb hotel.
Begin your day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel before meeting your guide for an immersive exploration of Croatia’s capital. Your journey starts in the Upper Town, the medieval heart of Zagreb, gracefully perched on the twin hills of Kaptol and Gradec. Wander along cobblestone streets lined with red-roofed houses and baroque facades that whisper centuries of history.
Visit the iconic St. Mark’s Church, instantly recognizable by its vibrant tiled roof adorned with the historical coats of arms of Croatia, Dalmatia, and Slavonia. Nearby, explore the Lotrščak Tower, offering panoramic views over Zagreb’s skyline. Be sure to catch the noon cannon firing, a beloved local tradition dating back to the 19th century. Continue along the romantic Strossmayer Promenade, a leafy walkway alive with street artists, scenic views, and an old-world charm. From here, pass by the Croatian Parliament and the historic Banski dvori, the official residence of Croatia’s government leaders.
Descend into Kaptol, where the imposing Zagreb Cathedral awaits – Croatia’s tallest building, known for its striking neo-Gothic twin spires and rich religious heritage.
Just a short walk away, dive into the lively atmosphere of the Dolac Market, fondly known as “the belly of Zagreb.” This bustling open-air market offers a true slice of local life, where you can mingle with vendors and sample regional delights like sir i vrhnje (fresh cheese and cream) or pick up handmade souvenirs.
Pause for lunch at a local bistro or charming café. Treat yourself to authentic Croatian specialties such as štrukli (cheese-filled pastry) or purica s mlincima (roast turkey with baked flatbread). Vegetarian and international options, including Indian cuisine, are also available nearby. After lunch, transition into the refined ambiance of the Lower Town, home to grand 19th and early 20th-century buildings, verdant parks, and vibrant museums.
Take a relaxing stroll through Zrinjevac Park, a tree-lined oasis surrounded by fountains, pavilions, and stately museums. Depending on your interests, visit either the Archaeological Museum, housing artifacts from prehistory to medieval times, or the Art Pavilion, known for its rotating exhibits and striking yellow façade.
Admire the grand architecture of the Croatian National Theatre, one of Zagreb’s most treasured cultural institutions. Its lavish interior and exterior are a testament to the city's artistic soul.
Wrap up your sightseeing at Ban Jelačić Square, the bustling city center where locals and visitors converge. Snap a photo by the statue of Ban Jelačić before taking a stroll down Tkalčićeva Street, a lively pedestrian zone lined with boutique shops, trendy bars, and inviting cafés. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a dessert, a drink, or simply soak in the city’s rhythm.
For dinner (on your own), choose from a wide array of restaurants – whether you want to continue with traditional Croatian fare or opt for Indian cuisine, the city caters to all palates.
Return to your hotel independently, reflecting on a day rich in history, culture, and the charming essence of Zagreb.
Overnight at Zagreb hotel.
Start your day with a nourishing breakfast at the hotel. Once you've completed check-out, embark on a picturesque drive towards Zadar, featuring an unforgettable visit to the magnificent Plitvice Lakes National Park en route.
Settle into a private transfer for the approximately two-hour journey from Zagreb to Plitvice, a jewel of Croatia’s natural heritage and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. Tucked within dense woodlands, the park dazzles with 16 terraced lakes linked by a network of more than 90 waterfalls. Meander along wooden boardwalks and gravel trails that guide you through tranquil waters, lush greenery, and stunning karst landscapes. Spanning nearly 200 square kilometres, Plitvice offers a peaceful retreat into one of Europe’s most unspoiled natural environments.
Following your exploration, resume your drive to the coastal gem of Zadar. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and take time to unwind.
The remainder of the day is yours to enjoy at leisure—wander the cobblestone streets of Zadar’s Old Town, listen to the melodic sounds of the Sea Organ, admire the Sun Salutation at sunset, or savor authentic Croatian cuisine at a local seaside restaurant.
Overnight at Zadar hotel.
Begin your day with a wholesome breakfast served at the hotel. After check-out, prepare for a captivating journey as you head south towards the coastal gem of Zadar for an enroute guided tour—a city where ancient history, natural beauty, and modern art seamlessly intertwine along the Adriatic coastline.
Upon arrival in Zadar, meet your local guide and embark on a walking tour through this atmospheric city, one of Croatia’s oldest continuously inhabited urban centers. Your tour begins at the Roman Forum, a magnificent open-air complex dating back to the 1st century BC. Admire the ancient ruins that whisper stories of a once-thriving Roman town. Just steps away stands the Church of St. Donatus, a striking circular pre-Romanesque structure from the 9th century, widely recognized as one of the most important examples of early medieval architecture in Croatia. Continue to the medieval city walls, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and stroll past charming cobbled streets lined with Venetian-style buildings and lively cafés. Pause at the Land Gate, a grand Renaissance-style entrance adorned with the Lion of St. Mark—a symbol of Zadar’s time under Venetian rule.
As the day progresses, make your way toward the seafront promenade to experience two of Zadar’s most unique modern attractions: the Sea Organ, an architectural sound installation that creates hauntingly beautiful music from the movement of the sea, and the Greeting to the Sun, a large circle of solar-powered lights that come alive at dusk. Here, you'll witness the famed Zadar sunset, once described by Alfred Hitchcock as "the most beautiful sunset in the world." Let the golden light and sea breeze wash over you as day turns into twilight.
Following the tour, continue your scenic transfer south along the Dalmatian Coast to Split —Croatia’s second-largest city and a vibrant hub of culture, history, and seaside life.
Upon arrival in Split, check in to hotel and unwind after your day of travel and exploration. If time and energy permit, enjoy a gentle evening stroll along the Riva promenade, where palm trees line the waterfront and locals gather in the warm coastal air.
Cap off your day with a delightful dinner at one of the many local restaurants. Savor fresh Adriatic seafood or traditional Dalmatian dishes in a relaxed ambiance as you prepare for more adventures ahead.
Overnight at Split hotel.
After enjoying a delightful breakfast at the hotel, embark on a full-day guided exploration of Split, Croatia’s second-largest city, where the ancient Roman Empire meets vibrant Dalmatian life.
Begin your day at the iconic Diocletian’s Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s best-preserved Roman imperial residences. Constructed in the 4th century by Emperor Diocletian as his retirement residence, the palace is not just a monument—it's a living part of the city. Stroll through its grand Peristyle courtyard, marvel at the Cathedral of Saint Domnius (originally the emperor’s mausoleum), and explore the Temple of Jupiter.
As you wander the labyrinthine alleys of the palace and Old Town, you’ll notice how ancient columns, medieval churches, Gothic palaces, and bustling cafés coexist within the same walls. The streets are full of surprises—each corner offering glimpses of Roman stonework, charming squares, and lively markets.
After a fulfilling morning of exploration, enjoy lunch at one of Split’s local konobas (traditional taverns), stylish seafront bistros, or cozy restaurants within the Old Town. Whether you're craving fresh Adriatic seafood, handmade pasta, or a classic peka dish, Split offers a rich culinary variety.
After lunch, take a scenic walk along the Riva Promenade, the lively waterfront lined with palm trees, colorful facades, and cafes buzzing with locals and travelers. It’s a perfect place for a coffee break, people-watching, or just soaking in the Mediterranean vibe.
Later, head towards Marjan Hill, the "green lungs" of Split. You can choose to hike, bike, or drive to the top. Along the way, you’ll find shaded pine forests, panoramic viewpoints, charming chapels, and even hidden beaches. From the top, you’re rewarded with breathtaking views over the Split Riviera, the Adriatic Sea, and nearby islands like Brač and Hvar.
For dinner, enjoy the freedom to explore Split’s vibrant culinary at your own pace. Dine by the sea, in a quaint Old Town alley, or at a modern rooftop restaurant. Whether it’s fine dining or a casual meal with wine, the city has something to suit every taste.
After dinner, consider a relaxed evening stroll along the lit-up Riva, enjoy live music in the squares, or sip a cocktail at one of the trendy rooftop bars or cozy wine cellars hidden inside ancient stone buildings.
Return to the hotel for overnight stay, with your heart full of Split’s stories, sunsets, and timeless beauty.
Overnight at Split hotel.
After a delightful breakfast at your hotel in Split, check out and board your comfortable private transfer heading south towards Dubrovnik – often referred to as the "Pearl of the Adriatic." This scenic coastal journey, spanning approximately 3.5 to 4 hours, offers captivating views of the Dalmatian coastline, dotted with olive groves, charming seaside villages, and glittering turquoise waters. You may wish to pause en route for a short break or photo opportunity to fully absorb the panoramic beauty.
Upon arrival in Dubrovnik, check in to your hotel and settle in at your own pace. The remainder of the day is yours to explore at leisure. Wander through the city’s atmospheric streets and elegant squares, perhaps beginning with a gentle walk along the Stradun – the city’s polished limestone main street lined with quaint cafes, shops, and baroque architecture. Admire the blend of medieval and Renaissance charm that surrounds you, with striking landmarks such as Onofrio’s Fountain, Sponza Palace, and the Church of St. Blaise beckoning around every corner.
Alternatively, you might choose to soak in the spectacular coastal views from one of the many seaside promenades, or enjoy a sunset drink overlooking the shimmering Adriatic Sea. For those looking to unwind, the evening offers the perfect chance to dine at one of Dubrovnik’s fine local restaurants, many of which offer terrace seating with postcard-worthy vistas.
Return to your hotel and rest well – the city’s rich history and wonders await you tomorrow.
Overnight at Dubrovnik hotel.
Begin your day with a delightful breakfast served at your hotel, featuring a selection of freshly baked pastries, local cheeses, cold cuts, fruits, and aromatic Croatian coffee or tea. Once you’re well-fueled, prepare for a full day of immersive exploration in Dubrovnik — Croatia’s most iconic coastal treasure, famed for its stunning medieval walls, baroque architecture, and shimmering Adriatic vistas.
Meet your expert local guide at the hotel lobby and set off for a walking tour of Dubrovnik’s UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Town — a living museum surrounded by ancient ramparts and brimming with history.

• Franciscan Monastery & Pharmacy: Visit the Franciscan Monastery, home to one of the oldest functioning pharmacies in Europe (est. 1317) and a remarkable Romanesque cloister.
• Rector’s Palace: Explore the elegant Rector’s Palace, a Gothic-Renaissance structure that once housed the city’s elected rector. It now functions as a museum showcasing artifacts, portraits, and period furnishings.

Following the morning’s rich history lesson, enjoy a leisurely lunch at one of the charming local taverns or seaside restaurants. You may choose to savor fresh grilled Adriatic seafood, black risotto (crni rižot) made with cuttlefish ink, or traditional pasticada (beef stewed in wine and herbs), paired with a glass of local white wine like Pošip or Malvasija.
After lunch, rejoin your guide to explore some lesser-known but equally fascinating corners of Dubrovnik:
• Lovrijenac Fortress: Walk slightly outside the city walls to reach this dramatic sea-facing fortress, often called “Dubrovnik’s Gibraltar.” Standing 37 meters above sea level, it once protected the city from both invasion and internal betrayal. The views from here over the Old Town and the Adriatic are postcard-perfect.
• Jesuit Stairs & Gundulić Square: Visit the grand baroque staircase (famous from Game of Thrones) leading to the Church of St. Ignatius, and wander through Gundulić Square, home to a morning market and classic 18th-century architecture.

• Local Artisan Visits: Depending on interest, your guide may introduce you to a local artisan workshop, where traditional Croatian crafts such as filigree jewellery or Konavle embroidery are still preserved.
For dinner, choose from a variety of eateries tucked away in stone alleys or overlooking the Adriatic. Whether you prefer a fine dining experience with modern Croatian cuisine, a rustic konoba (tavern) with homemade pasta, or a seaside terrace offering grilled octopus and Dalmatian wines — the evening is yours to savor.

Travel Tips
General Travel Tips

• Best Time to Visit: The ideal months are May to June and September to October for pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and lower prices. July and August are peak season with high tourist activity.
• Currency: Croatia uses the Euro (EUR). Credit cards are widely accepted, but carry some cash, especially in smaller towns and islands.
• Language: Croatian is the official language, but English is widely spoken, especially in tourist areas.
• Safety: Croatia is very safe for travelers. Just practice basic precautions like safeguarding valuables and being cautious in crowded places.

Getting Around

• Public Transport: Buses are reliable and affordable for intercity travel. Trains are less frequent but scenic. Ferries connect coastal cities and islands.
• Driving: Renting a car is great for flexibility, especially for exploring Istria, the Dalmatian coast, or the Plitvice Lakes. Roads are good, but parking in old towns can be tricky.
• Island Hopping: Use Jadrolinija or Krilo ferries and catamarans for efficient travel between islands like Hvar, Korčula, and Brač.

Packing Tips

• Bring Comfortable Shoes: Old towns like Dubrovnik, Split, and Rovinj have cobblestone streets. Good walking shoes are a must.
• Sun Protection: Summers can be hot. Carry sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat.
• Swimwear & Water Shoes: For rocky beaches and hidden coves, water shoes are useful.

Food & Culture

• Try Local Specialties: Don’t miss out on dishes like Peka, black risotto, truffle pasta, and Dalmatian prosciutto. Seafood is excellent along the coast.
• Tipping: Tipping is appreciated but not mandatory. Rounding up the bill or 10% is customary.
• Dress Respectfully: While beachwear is fine at the coast, cover up when entering churches or walking through town centers.

Tech & Connectivity

• SIM Cards & Internet: You can easily get prepaid SIM cards with data at the airport or local shops (A1, T-Mobile, or Telemach). Wi-Fi is widely available in hotels and cafes.
• Plugs: Croatia uses Type C and F plugs (Europlug), and the voltage is 230V. Bring a universal adapter if needed.

Local Etiquette & Tips

• Respect Heritage Sites: Many cities are UNESCO sites. Avoid climbing on ruins or graffiti.
• Avoid Tourist Traps: Especially in Dubrovnik, prices in Old Town can be steep. Explore nearby streets or ask locals for recommendations.
• Stay Hydrated: Tap water is safe to drink and refreshing.
