Travel Tips
Travel Timing & Climate Planning

• Ideal season: November to February offers comfortable temperatures and is perfect for exploring monuments and outdoor attractions.
• Weather to avoid: Summers (April–June) are extremely hot, while the monsoon season (June–September) brings humidity and heavy rainfall.
• Always review daily weather updates and road conditions before heading out.

Entry, Visa & Arrival Information

• Carry digital or printed copies of your passport and visa, as these may be required for SIM cards or routine checks.
• Although Aurangabad Airport is undergoing upgrades and may support more international flights in the future, most overseas travelers currently arrive via Mumbai, Pune, or Delhi.

What to Pack & Wear

• Choose lightweight, breathable fabrics, especially if visiting outside winter months.
• Dressing conservatively is recommended at religious and historical sites — cover your shoulders and knees, and keep a scarf or shawl handy.
• Sun protection is essential: pack sunscreen, a wide-brim hat, and sunglasses.
• If traveling during monsoon season, include a raincoat or umbrella.

Currency & Payments

• The local currency is the Indian Rupee (INR).
• Digital payments are widely used, but smaller vendors and ticket counters often accept cash only.
• Credit/debit cards work at major hotels and retail outlets.
• ATMs are easily available; keep small denominations (₹10, ₹20, ₹50) for tips and minor expenses.

Local Transportation

• Auto-rickshaws and taxis, including app-based services such as Ola and Uber, are convenient within the city.
• Government buses run to Ajanta and Ellora but are best suited for budget travelers; hiring a private vehicle or joining a tour is more efficient.
• Arrange transportation through trusted hotels or travel agencies for reliability.

Local Customs & Etiquette

• A polite “Namaste” with folded hands is a common and respectful greeting.
• Remove footwear before entering temples and mosques, and follow photography restrictions where posted.
• Public displays of affection are discouraged.
• Seek permission before taking photos of individuals.

Guides & Visitor Information

• Certified guides are limited at major attractions such as Ajanta and Ellora, and service quality can vary. Booking guided tours in advance through reputable operators or hotels is strongly recommended.
• Always confirm site timings and seasonal closures before your visit.

Safety & Useful Advice

• Aurangabad is generally safe for visitors; still, avoid poorly lit areas at night and stay alert in crowded places.
• For public Wi-Fi usage, a VPN can add an extra layer of security.
• Carry drinking water, sun protection, a hat, and comfortable walking shoes to make sightseeing more enjoyable.
