Maratha Empire Heritage Circuit
Pune, Raigad, Satara, and Kolhapur collectively represent the core landscape of the Maratha Empire, embodying the military foresight and lasting legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Pune emerged as a key administrative and cultural hub, closely linked to Shivaji Maharaj’s formative years and the foundation of Maratha governance. Raigad Fort, dramatically set amid the Sahyadri ranges, rose as the imperial capital and symbolized independent Maratha sovereignty and strategic mastery. It was here that Shivaji Maharaj was crowned, and many crucial administrative and military decisions were shaped. Satara later assumed importance as a major Maratha seat of power, encircled by formidable forts and historic battle sites that echo stories of bravery and resilience. The region illustrates the expansion and consolidation of Maratha military organization. Kolhapur, guarded by a chain of forts and historic battlegrounds, played a vital role in defending the southern frontiers of the empire. Together, these destinations form an interconnected network of fortresses and battle landscapes that vividly narrate the vision, valor, and enduring legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Upon arrival at Pune International Airport, guests are warmly welcomed by our professional tour guide and assisted with a smooth transfer to the hotel. Arrive at hotel and time is free to refresh after the journey. Pune, once the cultural and political heart of the Maratha Empire, serves as an ideal introduction to the life and times of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
After breakfast, the guided city tour begins with a visit to Shaniwar Wada, the iconic fort palace built in 1732 by the Peshwas, which stands as a symbol of Maratha power and administration. The guide explains its strategic planning, historic battles, and the rise of the Maratha confederacy.
The tour continues to Lal Mahal, where young Shivaji Maharaj spent his formative years and planned early campaigns, followed by Kasba Ganpati, Pune’s presiding deity closely associated with Maratha history. Later, guests visit Aga Khan Palace, an important freedom movement site, adding historical depth to the day.
The evening is kept free for guests to leisurely explore and absorb the vibrant ambience of the city, interact with local surroundings, or relax at their own pace before returning to the hotel for a specially arranged traditional Maharashtrian dinner.
