Colorful dragon and lion dances, fireworks, and temple fairs add to the joyous atmosphere. More than just a holiday, Chinese New Year is a time of reunion, renewal, and wishing for good fortune, health, and happiness in the coming year.
The Day of the Dead, or Día de los Muertos, is a vibrant Mexican tradition celebrated annually on November 1st and 2nd.Unlike somber mourning rituals, this festival is a joyful tribute to deceased loved ones, honouring their lives with music, food, and colorful decorations. Families build ofrendas (altars) at home or in cemeteries, adorned with marigolds (cempasúchil), candles, sugar skulls, and favourite items of the departed.
Rooted in Aztec traditions blended with Catholic influences, the celebration sees people dressed as skeletons, dancing, and sharing pan de muerto (bread of the dead). It reflects the Mexican belief that death is a natural part of life—and that through remembrance, the dead never truly leave us.
