Charming Vietnam
Vietnam is a captivating destination that offers a perfect blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. From the bustling streets of Hanoi to the serene landscapes of Ha Long Bay, the country is rich in diverse experiences. You can wander through ancient temples, vibrant markets, and colonial architecture, or trek through terraced rice fields in Sapa. Vietnam's cuisine, with its delicious pho, fresh spring rolls, and unique street food, is a highlight for many travelers. Whether you’re exploring the Mekong Delta by boat, relaxing on the beaches of Phu Quoc, or cycling through the countryside, Vietnam is an adventure for all kinds of explorers. The warm, welcoming locals add to the charm of this remarkable destination.

Welcome to Hanoi! Upon arrival, you'll be greeted at the airport and privately transferred to your hotel, where you can relax and refresh (standard check-in time is 2:00 PM). After checking in, at 2:00 PM, we’ll begin our exploration of Hanoi with a visit to some of the city's most iconic sites:
Hoan Kiem Lake, a serene spot at the heart of the city, perfect for a peaceful stroll.
The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum at Ba Dinh Square, where you can pay respects to the father of modern Vietnam.
One Pillar Pagoda, a historic Buddhist temple built during the 11th century under Emperor Ly Thai Tong, renowned for its unique architecture.
Dong Xuan Market, a bustling wholesale market in the Old Quarter, where you’ll find everything from local goods to handmade souvenirs.
Hang Gai Street, also known as the Silk Street, a perfect place to shop for exquisite textiles and fashion items.
Note: The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is open from 7:30 AM to 11:00 AM, except on Mondays and Fridays, and occasionally closes for renovation during certain months. If it's closed, you'll still have the chance to explore the grounds and learn about its history from the outside
The rest of the evening is free for you to relax or explore at your leisure.
Overnight at Hanoi Hotel.
Enjoy a delicious breakfast at your hotel before being picked up at 8:00 AM for your scenic drive to Ninh Binh, approximately 2 hours away. Along the way, you’ll be treated to beautiful views of the countryside.
Upon arrival in Ninh Binh, we’ll begin with a visit to Hoa Lu, the ancient Royal Capital of Vietnam. Here, you’ll explore two historic temples: the Temple of King Dinh and the Temple of King Le, where you can admire the intricate architecture that dates back centuries.
Next, we’ll head to Tam Coc for a relaxing lunch at a local restaurant, where you can sample some of the region’s delicacies (lunch at your own expense). Afterward, we’ll embark on a tranquil 2.5-hour boat trip through Tam Coc, often referred to as the "Halong Bay on land." As you glide along peaceful rivers surrounded by towering limestone cliffs, mysterious caves, lush rice paddies, and vibrant green fields, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to capture the breathtaking landscape—perfect for photography lovers.
If time permits, you can also visit the Bich Dong Pagoda, a hidden gem perched on a mountain. Take a short hike to the top for a stunning panoramic view of both the pagoda and Tam Coc below. In the late afternoon, we’ll head back to Hanoi, wrapping up a day filled with culture, nature, and unforgettable sights.

Travel Tips
Pack for the Weather
Vietnam has a diverse climate, ranging from the tropical heat in the south to cooler, temperate weather in the north. Light, breathable clothing is ideal for the southern regions, while the north, especially in Hanoi and the Sapa Mountains, can be chilly in the winter months (November to February). Comfortable shoes are essential, particularly for walking in cities like Hanoi and Hoi An.
Currency and Payments
The official currency is the Vietnamese Dong (VND). While credit cards are accepted in larger cities and high-end establishments, it’s a good idea to carry cash for smaller shops and local markets. ATMs are widely available. Tipping is not mandatory but is appreciated in restaurants and by hotel staff (around 5-10% for good service).
Language and Communication
The official language is Vietnamese, but English is widely spoken in tourist areas like Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hoi An. It’s always helpful to learn a few basic Vietnamese phrases like “Xin chào” (hello) and “Cảm ơn” (thank you). Google Translate or a translation app can be a lifesaver if you need help with communication.
Street Food Culture
Vietnam’s street food is world-renowned and an essential part of the travel experience. Pho (Vietnamese noodle soup), Bánh mì (Vietnamese sandwich), Goi cuon (spring rolls), and Bún chả (grilled pork with rice noodles) are must-tries. Always eat where locals eat, but make sure the vendor is busy and the food looks fresh. Avoid street food that has been sitting out for too long.
Transportation and Getting Around
Motorbikes are the most common mode of transport in Vietnam, and you’ll notice them everywhere. If you’re comfortable, you can rent a motorbike (with a helmet), or use Grab (the local ride-hailing app) for convenient and affordable taxi rides. Buses are also available for long-distance travel, and the train is a scenic option for traveling between cities like Hanoi and Hue. Always be cautious when crossing the road, as traffic can be chaotic.
Visa Requirements
Many nationalities require a visa to visit Vietnam, though some countries are eligible for visa-free entry for a limited period. You can apply for a visa on arrival or an e-visa online. Make sure to check the specific requirements for your nationality ahead of time.
Local Etiquette
Vietnamese people are friendly and respectful, and showing politeness goes a long way. When visiting temples or pagodas, it’s important to dress modestly. Shoes should be removed when entering temples and some homes. Avoid public displays of affection, as they are frowned upon in traditional areas.
Weather and Seasonal Tips
Vietnam’s weather varies significantly from region to region. In the north, the weather can be cool and rainy in the winter, while the south remains warm and sunny year-round. If you’re visiting during the rainy season (May to October), pack a raincoat or umbrella. The dry season (November to April) is ideal for outdoor activities and sightseeing.
Bargaining
Bargaining is common in markets and small shops, especially in cities like Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City. Be respectful and start with a price lower than what you’re willing to pay. It’s all part of the experience, but don’t push too hard. In fixed-price stores and higher-end places, prices are generally non-negotiable.
Drinking Water and Health
While bottled water is widely available and recommended, avoid drinking tap water. Always make sure to carry enough bottled water to stay hydrated, especially in the warmer regions. In some rural areas, drink filtered or boiled water. Also, bring along any prescription medications you may need, as some may be hard to find in local pharmacies.
Respect for Traditions
Vietnam has a rich cultural heritage. When visiting temples, pagodas, and historical sites, be mindful of the local customs. Always ask before taking photos of people, especially in rural areas. Respect the ancestor worship traditions, which are an important part of Vietnamese culture, and always ask before touching religious statues or sacred objects.
Safety and Health
Vietnam is generally safe for tourists, but like any destination, it’s important to take precautions. Keep your belongings close and avoid displaying valuables like expensive jewellery or electronics in crowded areas. Travel insurance is highly recommended to cover unexpected health issues, cancellations, or accidents. Also, vaccinations for diseases like typhoid and hepatitis A are often recommended for travellers.
Shopping and Souvenirs
Vietnam is famous for its silk, lacquerware, handmade crafts, and ceramics. The cities of Hoi An and Hanoi are known for their tailors, where you can have clothing made to measure. Bargaining is expected in most markets, but be polite and fair with your offers.
Emergency Contacts
In case of emergency, the national number for police is 113, for ambulance and fire services it’s 115, and for medical emergencies, you can call 1900 1127. It’s always good to have these numbers handy.
